Putting a square peg into…a square hole

When space planning/design and office furniture firm Elements needed to do some storage planning for themselves, they sought out the best of the best—same as they provide to their customers. Elements wanted to address both form and function while creating a larger and more organized storage solution. So, they turned to Advanced Systems Plus.

Elements provides its customers and influencers a voluminous variety of brochures, sales sheets, and samples in all sizes and shapes.

Their storage requirements for this wide range of information and materials are substantial, especially given that the firm offers a comprehensive array of space finishing furnishings and products, along with extensive services—including technical specification and space planning, project management, installation, and move management. In addition to sheer volume, there are so many different items to be accounted for that impeccable organization is a must.

Elements Principal Traci Lounsbury says the challenge was substantial. She notes, “We are in the business of providing literature and samples to our customers and influencers.  The literature consists of a lot of brochures and paper, but we also have to provide large items like carpet samples, and very small items like fabrics and wood samples.  We had the ability to customize the storage wall specific to our needs and use the free vertical space instead of occupying square footage.

Working together, Lounsbury and Advanced Systems Plus’ Maryjane Casey, decided on a tall barrier wall that would make good use of vertical space, as well as create an organized, clean look appealing both to the workforce and facility visitors. The system features Hamilton Sorter Casework standard product and finishes.

The finished product increased storage space by 50%, incorporates a white laminate to blend with the rest of the décor, and includes a large rolling library ladder that enables fast, easy and safe access to any stored items.

Lounsbury notes that, “Maryjane listened to our storage issues, and custom designed the product solution to fit our needs.  She took the time to understand what we needed to store. Spaces were custom designed specifically for the item needing to be stored.  It is a highly efficient use of space, and it is obvious what is stored there. And, the height of the wall plus its length is impressive.

Lounsbury adds that the new system has ramped up efficiency, in turn empowering better productivity and creativity in other areas of the business—a bit like the feeling people get after cleaning up a messy desk and knowing where to find important items.

Elements got their “best of the best storage solution.
